We didn't get the snow we were supposed to, and I'm a little sad about that. I don't enjoy losing power, but I do love being snowed in. Of course, I'm not the one shoveling or driving in it, so it's a bit selfish. I allow myself this. It's not like I'm wishing it on anyone but myself, right? Kinda? Oh...hmmm....
A lovely weekend, quiet and tame. Frankie D and I were out all day on Saturday, looking at granite for the kitchen counters, getting our hair cut (all my hair is gone!) having lunch and going grocery shopping. Saturday night, a lovely dinner out and home to watch tv with the kids a bit before the boy went out to work (bouncer) and the girl went to bed (morning shift at the coffee house.)
Sunday was quite tame as well. I worked! But it was catch-up stuff that frees me up considerably next week, so huzzah! I unfortunately had to reject a manuscript, though it did spark an idea for Wednesday's post. I never like giving that news, but the author took it well and is already on to another project, so huzzah once again.
Busy week for me! Getting a little touch up on a tattoo and book club on Monday, moved-out-son coming for dinner on Tuesday, dinner out with some writer friends on Wednesday. And all week, writing, writing, writing.
It sounds a little braggery, but there is a point--it wasn't so long ago my life was in the shitter. Writing didn't get done. Terrible, terrifying things kept me from doing anything but pace. I had no writer friends to get together with, and missed more book clubs than I ever thought I would. Fact is, things are good now, but they were really bad--and I am writing this not just to say, "look at all this great stuff in my life!" but to remind myself to really LOVE it while it's happening, appreciate it because of those darker times, and understand that though today is fabulous, tomorrow might not shine as brightly.
Here's to shining while the shining is good!
Oh, and it IS Monday! We have a guest blogger over at Heroines of Fantasy. Claire Ashgrove talks about love and romance in the genres. And thus ends my season to head up HoF. I will have the next three months "off" but I'll put up links every Monday nonetheless. Ain't you lucky?
And because I've been remiss--have a GrandWilliam...

Writers live in the moment in any case. The shining ones must be grasped with both hands. :)
If I had sparkles I would give you some. ♥
(William is adorable)
Isn't he just the sweetest?
Most adorable photo of Grandwilliam yet, I must say!
Isn't he a stitch. It's like he's saying, "What are my parents doing to me NOW?"
William does not look pleased with his moustache. :)
Will looks like he's saying, "I'm so going to get back at you for this one day."
Hey, guess what??? I actually got this comment delivered via e-mail. It's the first time in FOREVER that LJ has actually sent me a comment from you.
Hooray!
*raises glass*
I think we're getting your snow right now...
^ Can this be the name of your blog? Because it basically encapsulates you. Also acceptable "I'm going to go volunteer with the Girl Scouts... then maybe dye my hair purple."
